She said a questionnaire, which includes the question, “Do you support keeping drug possession, dealing and trafficking a crime?,” has not been answered by the Obama campaign.
Allen St. Pierre, director of NORML, a non-profit group advocating for the legalization of responsible marijuana use, said in an interview, “Marijuana, as science has well proven, is not addictive.”

Although it can cause mild withdrawal, he said, it cannot be compared to alcohol, other illegal intoxicants or prescription drugs.

“Potency is a product of prohibition,” St. Pierre said, explaining that people will move to a more potent version of a product when it is illegal. To say Americans did not have access to potent marijuana in the past is not realistic, he said.

San Francisco Chronicle, USA - Aug 14, 2008

The California Supreme Court has agreed to review a lower court decision that found state law improperly limits the amount of medical marijuana a patient can possess.

The case will test a 2003 law that shields doctor-approved pot users from arrest for possessing up to eight ounces of dried marijuana or growing six plants.

In May, a state appellate panel overturned the conviction of a Los Angeles County patient charged with possessing 12 ounces of pot and seven plants.

The panel found the 2003 law conflicted with Proposition 215, a 1996 voter-approved measure that legalized medical marijuana without setting specific limits.

Some medical marijuana advocates support the newer law, saying it merely provides guidelines to keep police from making unnecessary arrests.

California already makes over $100 million a year from taxes paid by medical marijuana facilities. Marijuana advocates claim legalizing and taxing medical marijuana could provide hundreds of millions of dollars more for the U.S. government.

There are an estimated 200 medical marijuana facilities operating in Southern California. With a doctor’s “recommendation,” a patient can walk into any one of these and buy pot — legally.

I mean come on, California only makes $100 million a year.. so, multiply that by 50…
